The 1st Westlake Symposium on AEM-WE:Anion Exchange Membrane, Successfully Concluded in Hangzhou, China

From July 12th to 14th, 2024, the 1st Westlake Symposium on AEM-WE was successfully held at the Yungu Campus of Westlake University. This specialized symposium was initiated by Academician SUN Licheng of Westlake University and brought together renowned domestic experts and scholars in the field of membrane material development. Through academic presentations, roundtable discussions, and other formats, the event fostered in-depth communication and exchange. Over 280 participants from universities, research institutes, and industries gathered at Westlake University to share the latest research achievements and forward-looking perspectives in the field. The symposium achieved its intended goals and garnered positive feedback within the industry.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the conference convener, Academician SUN Licheng, Chair Professor of Westlake University and Director of the Center for Artificial Photosynthesis and Solar Fuels, who delivered a welcome address and introduced the center’s development journey as well as the original intent behind establishing this symposium series.

More than ten distinguished guests attended the event, including Professor XU Tongwen from the University of Science and Technology of China, Professor ZHUANG Lin from Wuhan University, Professor HE Gaohong from Dalian University of Technology, Professor JIANG Zhongyi from Tianjin University, Professor YAN Feng from Soochow University, Professor WANG Baoguo from Tsinghua University, Researcher XING Wei from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher LI Nanwen from the Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor WANG Zhe from Changchun University of Technology, Professor ZHANG Qiugen from Xiamen University, Professor YIN Yan from Tianjin University, Professors WEI Haibing and DING Yunsheng from Hefei University of Technology, Associate Professor CHEN Nanjun from Xiamen University, and Dr. WANG Ying, General Manager of Huizhou EVE Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. Over the course of two days, they delivered academic presentations and participated in roundtable discussions centered on themes such as "Functional Design, Preparation, and Performance of AEM" and "Industrial Exploration of AEM." Associate Researcher TANG Tang from the Center of Artificial Photosynthesis for Solar Fuels at Westlake University, along with doctoral candidates MA Lunliang, ZHENG Wentao, and YIN Liqiang, also presented and exchanged insights on the latest research achievements made by the center in this field. The conference was highly focused, featured in-depth discussions, and fostered a lively on-site atmosphere, with many attendees expressing that they benefited greatly from the event.
